Ontario reports 896 new cases of COVID-19

Ontario is reporting 896 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, a drop from 934 cases the day before.

Most of the new cases are in Toronto (314), Peel Region (173), York Region (115), and Ottawa (92).

Nine more people have died, bring the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 3,127.

Another 769 people have recovered from the virus. Of the 74,715 COVID-19 cases in the province, 85 per cent are considered resolved.

The province conducted more than 41,000 tests on the previous day and another 41,000 remain under investigation.

The number of patients hospitalized dropped slightly from 322 to 314 along with those in the ICU from 77 to 75. The number of patients on a ventilator remains at 52.
