Suspect charged in stabbing death of man, 72, in North York

Toronto police have charged a 50-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 72-year-old man in North York.

Police said they were called at around 8:45 p.m. for a report of a stabbing in the Nymark Avenue and Goodview Road area.

When officers arrived, they found three injured people inside a home.

Police said the 72-year-old was taken to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition and later died in hospital. Police have since identified him as Jing Zhang and said he was a visitor from China.

A woman was also taken to the hospital, but her injuries are described by police as being minor.

Investigators said Jingfu Luo, 50, from Toronto, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He has minor injuries.

Police said all three people know each other.
