By News staff

York Region Public Health have linked 54 COVID-19 cases to an outbreak at a FedEx facility in Vaughan.

Public health officials say the workplace outbreak was first confirmed at 45 Di Poce Way on Nov. 18 when 15 workers were suspected to be infected with coronavirus.

The outbreak is still ongoing and 54 cases from four different regions have been confirmed. There are 29 in Peel Region, 13 in Toronto, 10 in York Region and two cases in Wellington-Dufferin Guelph.

Over half of the cases were from Dec. 12, 2020 or earlier and most of the affected employees have since recovered.

However, there is still potential for more cases to be identified and York Public Health are closely monitoring the situation. The risk to the public remains low.
