Mass vaccination clinics get ready to open in Peel, Toronto as supply builds

Peel Region is preparing for a sped up vaccination rollout with three mass vaccination clinics set to open up in the region once the vaccine supply is available.
In Mississauga, the Paramount Fine Foods Centre will be able to vaccinate up to 600 people an hour at full capacity.

In Brampton, the Brampton Soccer Centre will have the capacity to vaccinate 500 people an hour.
A third clinic is being setup in Caledon at the Caledon East Community Complex.
The three clinics will be used to inoculate the next priority group in Ontario’s phased vaccine rollout as part of Peel’s mass vaccination plan.

The next priority group includes anyone over the age of 80, staff and residents at retirement homes, high priority health care workers, indigenous adults and recipients of chronic home care.

No appointment are being booked as of yet, officials in Peel will are expected to provide more updates on the facilities in the coming days.
More than 34,000 doses of the COVID-vaccine have been given in long-term care and retirement homes in the region and second doses have been offered to all long-term care and high risk retirement homes.
The City of Toronto is also continuing its preparation for the mass arrival of vaccines.
The immunization task force updated the status of nine city-run clinics last week.
The cities vaccine clinics will be located at:
- Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front St. W.
- Toronto Congress Centre, 650 Dixon Rd.
- Malvern Community Recreation Centre, 30 Sewells Rd.
- The Hangar, 75 Carl Hall Rd.
- Scarborough Town Centre, 300 Borough Dr.
- Cloverdale Mall, 250 The East Mall
- Mitchell Field Community Centre, 89 Church Ave.
- North Toronto Memorial Community Centre, 200 Eglinton Ave. W.
- Carmine Stefano Community Centre, 3100 Weston Rd.
The clinics at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Malvern Community Centre, Toronto Congress Centre and The Hangar are already fully set up. Scarborough Town Centre will be finished its set up this week.
The city says all locations will be ready to operate by April 1.
Once fully operational, these clinics will be open seven days a week, for nine hours a day. It is estimated that more than 120,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses will be administered in the city each week.
Officials in Ontario say the province has the capacity to inoculate nearly 40,000 residents per day and is building to triple or quadruple that pending federal government supply.
The province says that people in the next priority group will be contacted by public health units to obtain vaccine appointments.
