Man, 70, dead in stabbing incident near Jane Street and Trethewey Drive

Toronto police say they have charged a man following the stabbing death of a 70-year-old man Tuesday morning.

Police said they were called at around 11:24 a.m. to 36 Hearst Circle which is in the Jane Street and Trethewey Drive area, for a report of a stabbing.

Initial reports said a man stabbed another man, then stabbed himself, police said.

When officers arrived at the address, they found a man with “significant injuries,” police said.

The victim, 70-year-old Toronto resident Arturo Acuna, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

EMS said they transported a second man to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Tuesday evening, police said they charged Ronnie Acuna Aguirre, 33, of Toronto, with Second Degree Murder

Police confirmed the stabbing victim is the father of the alleged suspect.

Investigators said this is an isolated incident and there’s no danger to the community.

This is Toronto’s 15th homicide of 2021, police said.
