Two suspects wanted in connection to a murder and attempted murder in Stoney Creek have fled Canada for Eastern Europe, Hamilton police say.
In an update Friday, police said the suspects, Oliver Karafa, 28 and Yun (Lucy) Lu Li, 25, both of Toronto, boarded a flight for Eastern Europe around 24 hours after allegedly fatally shooting a man and seriously injuring a woman.
Police responded to a call for a shooting in the area of Arvin Avenue shortly after 7:15 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021.
When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old woman with serious injuries. The male victim was found dead at the same location. He was later identified as Tyler Pratt, 39, of British Columbia.
“Hamilton police have confirmed that two suspects involved in the homicide and attempted murder in Stoney Creek last month have fled the country,” Hamilton police Staff Sgt. Det. Jim Callender, said Friday.
“We believe they are aware they are wanted and are actively evading police.”
Hamilton police say they are working with international authorities to track the suspects down.
“We will continue to relentlessly pursue you,” Callender vowed.
