Toronto police officer charged with sexual assault: SIU

By News staff

A Toronto police officer has been charged with sexual assault and breach of trust after a Special Investigations Unit (SIU) probe into an alleged incident on March 21 of this year.

In a release, the SIU said it was contacted by Toronto police on March 25 about the allegation.

Following its investigation, Const. Conal Quinn was charged with one count each of sexual assault and breach of trust.

Quinn was arrested on Tuesday and released on a promise to appear in court. He was also ordered not to communicate or associate with any witnesses, or possess a firearm.

He’ll be back in court on May 7.

“The matter is now properly before the courts,” the SIU said. “In consideration of the fair trial interests of the accused, the SIU will make no further comment pertaining to this investigation.”
