Ontario reports 3,732 new cases of COVID-19 and 23 new deaths Sunday

Ontario reported 3,732 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, an increase from the 3,369 cases recorded on Saturday.
“Locally, there are 1,198 new cases in Toronto, 797 in Peel, 306 in York Region, 237 in Hamilton and 232 in Durham,” Health Minister Christine Elliott said in a tweet.
Twenty-three more people lost their lives to COVID-19, bringing the pandemic’s death toll to 8,102 people.
A total of 5,324,369 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered as of Sunday, with 45,300 tests completed, Elliott said.
The total number of people that have now recovered from COVID-19 now stands at 425,163.
Despite the uptick in cases, the province recorded a decrease in both hospitalizations and admissions to intensive care units.
The number of patients in hospital stood at 1,961, with 875 in intensive care and 615 on a ventilator.
