No injuries after massive fire destroys Etobicoke business

By News staff

Ontario’s fire marshal has been called in after a five-alarm fire broke out at a business in Etobicoke.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at Bering Avenue and Judge Road, near Kipling Avenue, just before 10 p.m. Tuesday for a fire in an oven. The building is believed to be a deli/bakery.

The fire quickly spread, with thick smoke and flames coming through the roof of the building.

A fire official said the building has since collapsed. Firefighters remain at the scene to put out hotspots.

Fire officials said high winds overnight fuelled the flames. Aerial operations were needed to bring the fire under control.

No injuries have been reported.

Gas and hydro have been turned off in the building.

Road closures remain in the area.
