Man, 92, dead in Woodbridge house fire

A 92-year-old man has died following a fire at a Woodbridge residence on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to the scene on James Street near Kipling and Woodbridge Avenues around noon.
In a statement to CityNews, Acting Vaughan Fire Chief Mike Doyle said crews encountered heavy flames upon arrival and a man was removed from the second floor with critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead in hospital.
Paramedics say three other patients were assessed on scene.
Firefighters are still on the scene putting out hotspots and the Fire Marshal’s office has been notified.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Police are asking people to avoid the area and expect delays.
