Toronto police are searching for a male suspect wanted for breaking into a residence while wielding an axe and stealing over $5,000 worth of jewelry and cash.

Officers were first called to the residence in the Clancy Drive and Van Horne Avenue area, near Bayview Village, just before 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 16th.

The man allegedly gained entry to the home, stole personal items, including jewelry and cash, and then took a shower.

Police say it’s believed the man, who was also armed with an axe, spent several hours inside the home. No one was injured during his time in the residence.

They were able to identify the suspect as 29-year-old Gary Prince of Toronto, who is now wanted for break and enter, mischief under $5,000 and theft of over $5,000.

Prince is described as 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, with a slim build and dark curly hair. He was last seen wearing a light-coloured hooded jacket, light-coloured pants, tan and brown ankle boots similar to “Blundstones.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators.
