The string of violence continued in Toronto this weekend as one man, a taxi cab driver, was shot and killed in Scarborough late on Sunday. It's the fourth fatal shooting in the city in the last 48 hours.

One man has died in hospital following a late-night shooting in Scarborough, the latest fatality in a string of gun violence on Toronto streets over the weekend.

Police tell CityNews they first received a call about a taxi cab driver that had crashed into a fence in the Pharmacy Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East area shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Const. Alex Li says they located a male driver with injuries not consistent with the crash. That person was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, where they were later pronounced dead.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation. There are road closures in the area.

There is no information on a suspect or suspects at this time. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.

There have been ten reported shootings across the city this weekend, four of which have been fatal.

Earlier on Sunday night, Toronto police were called to Parliament Street and Wellesley Street East just before 9 p.m. after several reports that shots were fired and people were seen running.

They located one man with gunshot wounds. He has since been transported to hospital in serious condition.
