The French Dispatch is Anderson’s latest film, and it’s a tribute to the New Yorker. The film is an anthology tale based around the French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun (a fictional magazine). Bill Murray (from Groundhog Day and the Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou) plays the paper’s editor, and the film shows 3 segments based on stories by reporters played by Tilda Swinton (from We Need to Talk About Kevin and the Grand Budapest Hotel), Frances McDormand (from Nomadland and Moonrise Kingdom) and Jeffrey Wright (from No Time to Die and Only Lovers Left Alive). The film, set during the mid-20th century, shows Anderson at the height of his style. If you’re not a fan of that style of tight framing, complex sets and immaculate costuming, you probably won’t like this film. But if you are a fan, you’ve gotta check this out!

Where to watch: Crave

Next up, the final season of a modern HBO classic!

Insecure is a show about the contemporary black experience as seen through the eyes of Issa (played by the show’s creator Issa Rae, who also starred in the Lovebirds and the Hate U Give). This new season sees her achieving a modicum of success, starting off the season by heading to a panel at a nearby university. But her work is leaving her unfulfilled, and she’s considering moving to San Francisco with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Lawrence (played by Jay Ellis from Escape Room). On top of that, she’s trying to fix her friendship with Molly (played by Yvonne Orji from Night School), after lots of tension from seasons past. This is the show’s final season, so make sure to catch up on the previous seasons!
