Toronto police have identified a 36-year-old man that was shot and killed in an early morning shooting in the Eglinton West area of the city.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Keele Street and Eglinton Avenue West just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
When they arrived they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds in an apartment unit.
Life-saving measures were performed but the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Donald Leroy “Smokey” Marson of Toronto.
Investigators are urging anyone that witnessed the shooting= or were in the area at the time and have video surveillance or dashcam footage to contact them.
Marson’s death was one of many gun-related fatalities in Toronto over the weekend. The latest homicide involved a 73-year-old taxi cab driver, who was shot and killed in Scarborough late Sunday.
