Police make 2 arrests in North York homicide investigation

By Michael Ranger

Toronto Police have announced two arrests in a homicide investigation from earlier this month.

Two 41-year-old men from Toronto, David Benjamin and Leary Hibbert, are facing one count of ‘first-degree murder’ and ‘attempt to commit murder.’

Police were called to a low-rise office building in an industrial area on Bakersfield Street, near Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue, in the early hours of Oct. 21.

A victim was found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot and was rushed to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified as Nikie Timm, 37, of Toronto.

Police said it appeared a private party was being held at the building with a number of people in attendance, including the two victims.

The two suspects made their first court appearance on Saturday.
