6 hospitalized, 1 in life-threatening condition following Brampton house fire

Six people were taken to hospital, one in life-threatening condition following a house fire in Brampton.

Fire crews were called to a home on Longevity Road in the area of Mississauga Road and Bovaird Drive just before 11 a.m. Sunday to battle a basement fire. Neighbouring homes had to be evacuated as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

A total of nine people were assessed with six taken to hospital. One person was said to be in life-threatening condition, one suffered serious injuries and four others had minor injuries.

No ages or genders were given although Peel police said earlier that a woman had suffered severe burns.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been called in to investigate.
