City of Toronto adding 14,000-plus COVID vaccine appointments Jan. 1-3

The City of Toronto says more than 14,000 new COVID-19 vaccination appointments were added to the provincial booking portal for New Year’s weekend.

Starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, eligible residents were able to book the appointments at City-run clinics being held Jan. 1-3, 2022.

The clinics will be offering first, second and third (booster) doses.

Back in November, Ontario residents aged 70 and older were able to book an appointment to receive their booster dose.

As of Monday, those aged 18 and over were eligible to take their third dose of the vaccine if they received their second dose at least three months (84 days) ago. However, some encountered issues while trying to book an appointment.

On Tuesday, the City added more than 6,000 COVID-19 vaccination appointments to the provincial portal for December 25-27, but they were quickly booked up.

The City said as of Wednesday, one in four (more than 25 per cent) eligible Torontonians have received their third COVID-19 vaccine dose.

Officials also said more than half a million third doses have been administered to Toronto residents over the past six weeks.
