Coldest morning in Toronto in nearly 2 years, wind chill temps reach -30

GTA residents are waking up on Tuesday to the coldest air in the region in nearly two years but temperatures will rise throughout the day.
An extreme cold weather alert remains in effect for the Greater Toronto Area through the morning with wind chill temperatures hitting -30 in some parts of the city.
CityNews 680 meteorologist Jill Taylor says it is the coldest day in Toronto since February 2020.

Environment Canada says “bitterly cold arctic air combined with light winds will bring extremely cold wind chills to the region. Wind chills will moderate later this morning.”
Residents are being advised there is a significant risk of frostbite if outdoors for an extended period and exposed skin can freeze in 10 to 30 minutes.
Despite the freezing cold temperatures there will be sunny skies throughout the day and things are expected to warm up by late Tuesday. Temperatures will near -5 in the evening and continue to rise through the overnight into Wednesday morning.
Wednesday will see a high near -2.
