Toronto police are searching for two suspects they allege assaulted and robbed a man who decided not to purchase a puppy from them.

Investigators say the 41-year-old man responded to an online ad to purchase a “pocket bully” puppy – a shorter variation of the American Bully – and agreed to meet the men in the area of Bayview Avenue and Blythwood Road around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

After meeting with the suspects, police say the man decided he didn’t want to buy the puppy, and that’s when the two men allegedly attacked him with a pistol, stealing his cash and driving away with the puppy.

The victim was treated in hospital for his injuries.

The suspects are described as being around five-foot-11 and in their 30s. The first man was wearing a black Moose Knuckle parka with white fur trim on the hood, black pants, white sneakers, a black Nike baseball hat, and a blue medical mask.

The second man was wearing a black parka with beige fur trim on the hood, blue jeans, black and white Nike Air Zoom GP sneakers. He was the one who brandished the firearm.

The vehicle they fled in is described as a grey four-door Acura TL.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
