Suspect charged with sex trafficking, killing cats

A person accused of trafficking a woman in the sex trade, controlling her through violence, and killing two cats, is facing numerous charges.
In a release, police said the suspect met the woman and they began an intimate relationship that took a dark turn when she was forced into a life of prostitution.
Police say the suspect withheld the money she earned through the sex trade and used violence to exercise control over her.
The suspect is further accused of causing “pain and suffering” to two cats, eventually killing and discarding them.
Menachem Berger, 22, of Toronto, is facing several charges including trafficking in persons by exercising control, willfully causing unnecessary pain and suffering to an animal, and killing an animal.
Police say their investigation began in January 2022, and Berger was arrested on February 2.
