11-year-old crashes car into fence after going on joyride in Whitby: police

Two young boys are not injured after allegedly taking a car from a family member and going on a joyride in Whitby and later crashing into a fence.

Police in Durham Region say people called 911 around 8 p.m. Sunday after seeing a possible impaired driver weaving across the road.

Responding officers spotted the vehicle on Anderson Street north of Taunton Street and attempted to stop it, but the car sped off and went off the road.

Police say an 11-year-old boy was behind the wheel and a 12-year-old boy was in the passenger seat.

No charges have been laid because of their ages.
