Downtown hit-and-run leaves woman in life-threatening condition

A woman in her 20's has been seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle near King and Spadina. That vehicle then left the scene. Toronto Police say they are looking for a Mercedes with front hood damage.

A 30-year-old woman is in critical condition following an early morning hit-and-run in downtown Toronto.

The woman was struck at Spadina Avenue and King Street around 3:15 a.m. on Thursday.

Paramedics tell CityNews she was transported to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition.

Police believe speed may have been a factor in the collision and they are looking for a light coloured Mercedes convertible that fled the intersection southbound at a high rate of speed.

“This vehicle involved will have damage,” says Toronto Police Sgt. Murray Campbell.

Police say the roof of the vehicle was folded down at the time of the collision and it will have noticeable damage to the front end.

The intersection was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
