Plane crashes near Buttonville Airport in Markham, no injuries reported
No injuries have been reported after a plane crashed near Buttonville Airport in Markham on Wednesday night.
Traffic spotters calling into the CityNews 680 traffic centre reported the plane crash around 9:15 p.m. in the area of Highway 404 and 16th Avenue.
Ontario Provincial Police and York Regional Police say the plane was inbound for landing when it crashed.

“The aircraft was on final approach to Runway 15 at Buttonville when it collided with a light post and was found in a grassy area by Highway 404 near Runway 15, off of airport property,” the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) tells CityNews. “The pilot and sole person aboard was not injured, but the aircraft was substantially damaged.”
The TSB adds the wreckage has been moved to a secure location in order to determine the exact cause of the crash.
