Motion to allow alcohol consumption at Toronto parks to be reintroduced

A Toronto city councillor is taking another kick at the can — the can full of booze that is.

Councillor Josh Matlow will re-introduce a motion at City Hall to allow people to enjoy an alcoholic beverage in a public park.

Matlow tells CityNews 680 there are thousands of people who will benefit from this.

“We still have a responsibility to provide the many Torontonians who don’t have the privilege of a backyard,” Matlow said, “let alone a balcony, access to outdoor places, to be able to get together with a friend or a member of their family and enjoy a drink.”

Matlow did try to bring this issue to city council last year, but it was shot down. He believes there will be more support for the motion this time around.
