Police in York Region are searching for as many as five suspects that allegedly rappelled down into a store and escaped with several diamonds in a Vaughan jewelry heist.
The investigation commenced on April 18 when police were called to a jewelry store in the area of Weston Road and Highway 7 following reports of a break-in.
Surveillance footage captured four to five male suspects attending the store just before 9 p.m. on April 16. It’s alleged that the suspects had access to the roof and rappelled down inside with the use of a device. They then cut a hole into a safe and stole several diamonds.
There were no injuries.
Investigators believe that the suspects fled in an older model Honda Odyssey and a newer model white Toyota CRV.
Police are hoping to speak with anyone that might have additional video surveillance or dashcam footage.
