Woman injured after GO train collides with vehicle in North York

Toronto police say a female driver is injured and has been rushed to a trauma centre after her vehicle collided with a GO train in North York.

Officers were first notified of a collision in the Keele Street and Sheppard Avenue West area around 1:15 p.m. on Monday after reports that a train struck a vehicle on Carl Hall Road.

GO Transit says officials received word that a train on the Barrie line struck a vehicle south of Downsview Park GO station.

The train stopped shortly after.

The woman was transported to a trauma centre and was conscious and breathing, police confirmed. It’s unclear how serious her injuries are.

Transit officials say emergency workers are on-site and that trains won’t be able to move through the area for approximately two hours.

“Trains will not be able to move through the area until given permission,” GO transit says. “At this time the Barrie line may experience significant delays and possible cancellations.”

Customers can take the TTC to Downsview Park GO from Union Station in Toronto.

Police are on the scene investigating.
