A single-vehicle crash involving a transport truck in Milton is caused major delays for Monday morning commuters to the west of the GTA.
The collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 between Highway 25 and James Snow Parkway, around 3:30 a.m, when a truck smashed into the concrete guardrail on the right side of the highway.
The MTO tells CityNews the transport truck leaked fuel over live lanes of the highway and caused significant damage to the guardrail. The front wheels of the truck were also torn off in the crash.
“As a result of this wreck, there was a significant diesel and oil spill,” says OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt. “We have vacuum trucks here right now cleaning up this mess.”

The two right eastbound lanes of the 401 were blocked for most of the morning commute for collision cleanup, with just a single left lane allowing traffic through.
The eastbound lanes reopened to traffic shortly after 9 a.m.
The OPP say the driver of the truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries. There is no word yet on the cause of the crash.
