Toronto police say a 68-year old man has died after a pickup truck crashed into the garage of a house in the city’s east end on Sunday night.
Police say the collision happened just after 7 p.m. in the area of Queen Street East and Kingswood Avenue and that the crash caused a gas leak.
Crews were called to the home to deal with the gas leak, which has since been capped, according to police. Officers say there are no public safety concerns.
Police say the driver lost control of a black Ford-150 when he was southbound on Kingswood Drive, towards Queen Street East. The man was the only occupant in the vehicle and there are no reports of anyone else being injured.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
Police are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone who has information to contact them.
Queen Street was closed in both directions between Silver Birch Avenue and Nursewood Road for the investigation. Roads have since reopened.
