3 Toronto men charged with human trafficking of Edmonton teen

Three Toronto men are facing almost 20 charges in connection with a six-month human trafficking investigation involving a 17-year-old girl from Edmonton.

Police say once the girl turned 18, she was flown to Toronto and allegedly forced to work in the sex trade over eight days at various hotels and a house. She was also coerced into selling illegal drugs over that period.

After beginning an investigation last October, 30-year-old Yonathan “Yogi” Wolde and 28-year-old Kalid Mohamed were both arrested in November 2021. Wolde is facing 14 charges including trafficking and drug possesion while Mohamed has been charged with assault and two counts of sexual assault.

On Friday, 32-year-old Abilaziz Mohamed was arrested and charged with trafficking and assault causing bodily harm.

Investigators believe there are more victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward or reach out anonymously at Crime Stoppers.
