Ontario is continuing to see a downward trend in hospitalizations related to COVID-19 on Sunday with 643 patients admitted in the past day.
Not all hospitals report their data over the weekends, however, Sunday’s count of patients is the lowest its been since March 27, when there were 553 people in hospital testing positive for the virus.
The number of people in ICU testing positive for the virus is also down by one, to 113. The day before, Ontario saw its lowest number of patients in intensive care with the virus in six months.
The province is reporting two additional deaths, which it says occurred over the past month. That brings the total number of deaths to date to 13,225.
There’s 878 new daily cases of COVID-19 being reported, but officials have advised to multiply the daily case count by 20 for a more accurate picture because of the limited access to testing, which is down compared to Saturday. In the past 24 hours, 8,213 tests have been completed with 8.6 per cent testing positive. The test positivity rate is up by .1 per cent.
COVID-19 vaccinations have dropped in the past day with 12,158 doses administered. That number is down by nearly 8,000 compared to Saturday’s vaccine count.
87 per cent of eligible Ontarians, five years and older, are fully vaccinated and three per cent are partially vaccinated.
