Man dead, woman arrested following multi-vehicle crash in Brampton

A man was rushed to hospital this morning after a 4-vehicle crash in Brampton. A woman is now in police custody but no charges have been laid.

One man is dead and a woman is under arrest following a multi-vehicle collision in Brampton on Thursday morning.

Peel police were called to Main and Vodden streets shortly after 8:15 a.m. after getting reports of a four-vehicle crash.

Emergency services arrived to find a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

A woman was taken into custody at the scene of the crash, and police say charges are pending.

Two witnesses tell CityNews the woman got of her Suzuki SUV after the collision and walked to a Tim Horton’s at the corner of the intersection. She was arrested after returning to the crash scene.

Peel Police Const. Donna Maurice says it’s too early to determine if speed or intoxication were a factor in the crash.

“That’s what the Major Collision Bureau will take into account,” said Maurice. “They will be looking at all avenues with regards to speed, direction, skid marks, all that kind of information.”

Police say the intersection will be shut down for several hours for the investigation and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.

Investigators are asking any witnesses in the area at the time of the crash to contact police.
