Police release identity of man fatally shot outside Sheppard-Yonge station

A man was shot and killed in a parking lot near an entrance to the Sheppard-Yonge subway station. It's Toronto's 30th homicide and 22nd gun murder of the year. Carl Hanstke has the latest from the scene.

Toronto police have released the identity of the man who died after he was found shot outside a subway station in North York on Wednesday night.

Police say the victim has been identified as 28-year-old Kian Hoseyni of Toronto.

There’s still no suspect or information at this time.

Officers say they received reports of gun shots heard shortly after 10 p.m. in the area of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim with gunshot wounds in a parking lot near an entrance to the station.

EMS was seen with a stretcher in the alley near the subway entrance off of Harlandale Avenue. A body was seen under an orange tarp.

Police say they provided life-saving measures.

Officers closed Yonge Street southbound between Elmhurst and Sheppard for the investigation. Officers say the north exit of the TTC was not accessible during the investigation.

Anyone with information about what happened or video surveillance in the area is being asked to call police.
