12-year-old boy in stable condition after being struck by vehicle in Thorncliffe Park

A boy has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after they were struck by a vehicle Thursday evening in the city's east end.

A 12-year-old boy is in stable condition in hospital after he was struck by the driver of a vehicle Thursday evening.

Toronto police were called to the area of Thorncliffe Park Drive and Overlea Boulevard just before 8 p.m.

Police say the driver of a vehicle was heading north on Thorncliffe when she stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, she proceeded to drive forward and struck the boy, who was riding his bicycle east in the crosswalk, on the south side of the intersection.

The boy was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver is cooperating with the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information to contact them.
