Police investigating after tire thrown on subway tracks downtown; Train service resumes

Police are investigating after a tire was thrown onto the subway tracks in downtown Toronto on Monday morning.

Emergency crews initially responded to a fire call at Queen station around 6:40 a.m. after there getting reports of smoke at the station.

Toronto police later advised there was no fire but someone had thrown a tire onto the tracks. The station was temporarily evacuated for the investigation.

Subway service was shut down for over an hour on Line 1 between Bloor-Yonge and Union stations during the morning commute. Train service resumed before 8:30 a.m.
