Toronto police have arrested a 21-year-old and 17-year-old in connection to a carjacking and pharmacy robbery investigation, stemming from May in the city and Mississauga, but add they are looking for one more suspect.
Police say on May 5 and May 7, officers responded to a robbery call in the Sheppard Avenue East and Meadowvale Road area in Toronto and then another robbery call in the area of Tannery Street and Queen Street South in Mississauga.
In both of those incidents, police say three male suspects entered the pharmacy in disguise and one of them allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded cash and narcotics. The three then took off with the money and narcotics, police say.
On May 9, police were called in for a reported carjacking in the area of Rexdale Boulevard and Islington Avenue, where it’s alleged two male suspects wearing masks approached a woman standing outside of her parked car, one pulled out a gun, and demanded her keys. The two suspects then drove away from the area in the car, police say.
Police say after they launched an investigation and identified one of the suspects, the next day on the 10th, they saw a suspect driving a vehicle with two other men inside. Police say officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the suspect got away.
As the investigation continued, police say they identified a second suspect.
Police say on July 3, a 17-year-old from Toronto, who can not be named under law, has been arrested and charged with three counts of robbery with a firearm, three counts of disguise with intent, and two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. They appeared in court for a bail hearing the next day.
On July 14, police say one suspect turned himself in.
Officers say 21-year-old Ahmed Abdirahman of Toronto has been arrested and charged with three counts of robbery with a firearm, three counts of disguise with intent, two counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and dangerous operation of a vehicle. Abdirahman appeared in court for a bail hearing on July 15.
Police are still looking for an unidentified male suspect believed to be around 20-years-old.
Anyone who has information about this investigation is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
