Peel Regional Police have made a pair of arrests in connection with one of the victims of a double homicide in Brampton, where two men were fatally shot in June.
Authorities received a 911 call around 2 a.m. on June 19 for reports of shots fired at the Chandni Convention Centre on Gateway Boulevard in the area of Queen Street East and Airport Road.
When police arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One man, later identified as 28-year-old Kenroy Benjamin of Bolton, Ont., was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other male victim, identified as 40-year-old Sheldon Taylor of Whitby, Ont., was taken to a trauma centre, where he later died.
On Wednesday, police arrested 36-year-old Ezekel Vincent of East Gwillimbury, Ont. in connection with the fatal shooting of Benjamin.
Vincent has been charged with second-degree murder. Police also arrested 36-year-old Robert Dallas of North York, who was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Officers say both men were held for a bail hearing and appeared in a Brampton court.
The investigation into Taylor’s death is ongoing.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have been attending an event around the time of the shooting to contact them with any information they may have.
