A key member of the 1992 World Series-winning Toronto Blue Jays will not be at the Rogers Centre when the team marks its 30th anniversary this weekend.
According to Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith, Roberto Alomar has not been invited to Saturday’s celebration at the ballpark, which will feature several former Blue Jays, including Joe Carter, Pat Borders, Dave Stieb and manager Cito Gaston, among others.
Nicholson-Smith says Alomar’s big moments with the club will be chronicled on the big screen, including his monumental home run against Oakland Athletics closer Dennis Eckersley in the American League Championship Series.
The Blue Jays parted ways and cut ties with Alomar in 2021 when the league investigated a sexual misconduct allegation. The Jays also removed him from the Level of Excellence and took down his banner at Rogers Centre.
The Hall of Fame second baseman was fired from his job as a consultant with Major League Baseball and placed on the league’s ineligible list.
Alomar issued the following statement in 2021.

Alomar’s Hall of Fame plaque has remained on display in Cooperstown, N.Y.
Alomar, a 12-time All-Star, spent five seasons with the Blue Jays, winning two World Series.
The first 15,000 fans that enter Rogers Centre on Saturday will receive a Blue Jays bomber jacket as part of the anniversary.
It’s also expected to be quite the matchup on the mound, with two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani as the likely starter for the Los Angeles Angels. He’ll go up against Alek Manoah.
