Health Canada is warning consumers of counterfeit erectile dysfunction drugs seized from a Scarborough convenience store.
Inspectors say counterfeit Viagra and Cialis pills were seized from Grace Daily Mart on Ellesmere Road along with several other unauthorized sexual enhancement products.
The seized Viagra has an expiry date of 2025-03 on the label while the Cialis is labelled with a lot number 05668 and an expiry of 2024-04. Both were sold in individual blister packs with no other packaging.
“Counterfeit drugs are made to look like authentic products, but they may not be the same and they can pose serious health risks. For example, they could contain a higher dosage than shown on the label, contaminants or hidden dangerous ingredients, that can seriously harm your health. On the other hand, they might not contain the drug at all,” Health Canada said in a statement.
There was no indication if any charges would be laid in connection with the seizure.
Health Canada says anyone who purchased the counterfeit drugs is asked to stop using them immediately and dispose of them. Anyone suffering health-related issues as a result of taking these drugs should consult their doctor.
