Toronto city workers set to go on strike Monday morning

    UP NEXT:

Some areas were hit with thunderstorms and rain on Thursday, but that will change this weekend. Details on your extended forecast.

    By Lucas Casaletto

A tornado warning was lifted in Halton-Peel, and other weather warnings are over after thunderstorms passed through much of southern Ontario on Thursday.

The tornado warning initially covered Milton and Halton Hills, with Canada’s weather agency cautioning people in these areas to lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions.

The tornado warning was issued around 3:30 p.m. and ended just before 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Halton-Peel, the City of Toronto, York-Durham and Waterloo-Wellington were all under a severe thunderstorm watch, which has since been lifted.

Intense downpours were reported across parts of southern Ontario early on Thursday as the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms threatens the region into Friday.

A gorgeous weekend is on tap behind the storms, with sunny skies expected across the GTA on Saturday and Sunday.
