Ontario fiscal watchdog to release report on Ford government spending

By News Staff and The Canadian Press

Ontario’s fiscal watchdog is set to release a report on Thursday, looking at the Ford government’s spending.

But opposition MPs won’t have a chance to question their government colleagues about the findings in the legislature.

The report, to be released at 9 a.m. by the Financial Accountability Office, will look at the government’s spending between April and the end of June. It will also provide an update on the province’s spending plan for the 2022-23 fiscal year.

In July, the office projected a deficit that is $5.4 billion smaller than the most recent government projection of $13.5 billion, because of lower-than-anticipated program spending.
