DVP crash leaves 26-year-old motorcyclist in life-threatening condition

A motorcyclist is in critical condition after an early morning crash that closed a portion of the Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway in downtown Toronto.

The crash occurred around 1:25 a.m. on Friday when a Suzuki motorcycle travelling northbound on the DVP struck a guardrail near the Prince Edward Viaduct.

The bike was travelling at high speeds when the 26-year-old male rider lost control and fell onto the roadway. He was transported to hospital and his injuries are considered life-threatening.

The eastbound Gardiner was closed from Jarvis to the DVP, and the northbound DVP was closed from the Gardiner to the Bayview/Bloor ramp.

The road reopened around 7 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
