Weekend need to know: Accessible trick-or-treating, Toronto waterfront marathon, transit updates

By Julie Arounlasy

Spooky season continues in the GTA with events that everyone can check out, from barrier-free trick-or-treating for children with disabilities to a local Halloween market.

Fortunately, there are no scheduled TTC subway closures, but temporary diversions and road closures will be in place for the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon.

Here’s what to do this weekend:

Top Events

Accessible Trick-or-Treating

Treat Accessibly is hosting its annual accessible trick-or-treat event, prioritizing children with disabilities, this Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

More than 32 homes on Queens Drive near Black Creek Drive in Toronto will create accessible curb-side, trick-or-treat stations for children with and without disabilities to safely collect candy without any barriers.

For Halloween night on October 31, homes wanting to participate in an inclusive night can place an “Accessible Trick-or-Treating” sign on their home’s front lawn at least a week before Halloween to give families time to plan their trick-or-treating route.
