A veteran Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer is facing charges after an investigation into his alleged “inappropriate behaviour” while off-duty, the police force said on Tuesday.
In a release, the OPP said its Criminal Investigation Branch began a probe into the officer’s conduct “in relation to an adult person” in November 2021 — a month after allegations against the officer was brought forward.
OPP Const. James Clark, 50, has been charged with breach of trust and obtaining sexual services for consideration.
Clark was released from custody and will appear in a Kenora court at a later date.
“The officer has been a member of the OPP for 20 years and had been assigned to court services-related duties from the Kenora Detachment since 2015. He is currently on leave,” the OPP said.
