Police are searching for a man allegedly behind a bike-stealing spree and other stolen items from underground parking garages in Toronto.
Toronto police received break-and-enter calls spanning months, from July to December, in the Matilda Street and Carroll Street area near Regent Park.
It was reported that a suspect gained entry to an underground parking garage and, once inside, would cut locks off bicycles. He’d then flee the area on the stolen bikes.
On Dec. 8, police were called to the Danforth Avenue and Main Street area for reports of a break-and-enter.
The same suspect entered an underground parking garage and gained entry into the storage locker area. He then cut the locks off numerous storage lockers, and several items were taken.
The man has been identified as 40-year-old Brent Prankatz of Toronto. He’s facing 10 counts of break-and-enter and six counts of failing to comply with a release order, among other offences, including mischief.
Prankatz is described as 5-foot-10 with a thin build, short brown hair, and a moustache or goatee. He often wears a baseball cap and carries a large backpack.
