Toronto Marlies game suspended after fan suffers medical episode

The American Hockey League (AHL) suspended Friday’s game between the Toronto Marlies and Manitoba Moose after a fan suffered a medical episode in the stands and was rushed to a hospital.

In a statement from the Marlies, the organization said the fan experienced a medical emergency during the first-period intermission and was quickly tended to by medical personnel.

“After consultation with both teams and the AHL, a decision was made to suspend the game,” the Marlies said in a statement.

“The Marlies and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment are grateful to the EMS personnel and fans who assisted in attending to the emergency. Our thoughts are with the fan affected and their family and loved ones.”

Team supporters in attendance at Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto took to social media, saying first responders were seen performing CPR after the fan reportedly collapsed.

The AHL also released a statement confirming the game has been suspended and will be completed at a later date.

The person’s condition is unclear.
