70-year-old man facing murder charge after woman found dead in Burlington

A 70-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after a woman was found dead in an apartment in Burlington.
Halton police responded to an apartment unit in the area of Guelph Line and Prospect Avenue around 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 13. Police located an unconscious female victim inside and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are not releasing the victim’s name at the request of her family.
The suspect, who police have identified as Sandor Somogyi, was taken into custody. Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and say they are not looking for additional suspects.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 26.
