Motorcyclist suffers life‑threatening injuries after hit‑and‑run involving transport truck in Markham

Police in York Region a motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries following a crash in Markham.

York Regional Police (YRP) are appealing for witnesses after a hit‑and‑run collision involving a motorcycle and a transport truck in Markham left a 30‑year‑old man with life‑threatening injuries.

Officers were called to the area of Woodbine Avenue and John Street around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday for reports of a crash between a motorcycle and a large commercial truck.

Police say the motorcycle rider, a Markham man, was rushed to the hospital with life‑threatening injuries.

The driver of the transport truck did not remain at the scene, according to investigators. Police have since located the truck, though no details have been released about the driver or whether any arrests have been made.

The Major Collision Investigation Unit has taken over the case and is working to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash.

Investigators are urging anyone who was in the area at the time — particularly drivers with dash cam footage — to come forward.

The investigation remains ongoing.
