A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a home invasion and shooting in Liberty Village last year that left a victim with life-altering injuries.

Police said around 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 30, 2022, a person was getting into their car in the underground parking lot of a condo in the area of King Street West and Strachan Avenue when two armed males wearing ski masks blocked the victim’s vehicle with their vehicle and got inside.

The suspects allegedly pointed a gun at the victim and handcuffed them while putting ski masks over their faces.

Police say they forced their way into the victim’s condo unit and handcuffed another tenant who was inside before placing valuable items into duffle bags and “securing” the two victims inside a bedroom. It is unknown whether the victims were tied up or locked inside the room.

When a third person walked into the unit with someone else and confronted the suspects, police say the suspects shot the victim three times and fled the unit with the stolen items.

The person shot was rushed to hospital and survived but has been left with life-altering injuries.

In an update on Monday, police identified one of the suspects and are seeking the public’s help in identifying the second one seen in the security camera footage (below).

Police say one of the suspects, Boaz Frimpong, 28, of Toronto, turned himself in to police on Tuesday. He has been charged with Attempt Murder, Robbery with a Firearm, Forcible Confinement, Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000.

Investigators describe the second suspect as Black, around five feet 10 inches to six feet tall, and with a heavy build. He wore a dark winter jacket, a dark face covering and black running shoes.
