Suspects involved in BB gun attack on TTC driver linked to another assault: police

Toronto police believe the suspects wanted for shooting a BB gun at a TTC employee over the weekend in the city’s east were also responsible for another assault involving a BB gun the day before.

The first assault happened on Friday night. Officers were called to Scarborough Town Centre near Progress Road and McCowan Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

Police say the suspects were in a dark-coloured van when they approached a person standing outside a Walmart on the lower entrance and shot at the victim with a BB gun.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

The just before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, a TTC driver was standing at a bus shelter, waiting to take over a bus at at Markham Road and Progress Avenue, when a suspect shot at the victim from the passenger seat of a dark-coloured four-door car with what appeared to be BB gun.

The driver was hit in the head and abdomen but only received minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 15-19 years old, with a thin build, and was wearing all dark clothing.

Investigators believe the same suspect or suspects were involved in both incidents.

With the recent attacks on TTC employees and riders, the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 113 is calling for more punishment for anyone who commits acts of violence on public transit.

On Wednesday morning, two TTC workers were were chased by a person with a syringe at Yonge and Dundas streets. The workers were not injured and police arrested a suspect at the scene.

Two uniformed TTC employees were swarmed and injured aboard a bus in Scarborough on Monday. The two workers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
