Toronto police officer facing impaired driving charges after Highway 400 crash

A Toronto police officer is facing impaired driving charges following a collision on Highway 400 early Tuesday morning.

Provincial police say they responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a vehicle and a dump truck in the area of Highway 400 and Teston Road just after midnight on Jan. 31.

Police say the 29-year-old driver of the vehicle has been charged with impaired driving and refusing a breathalyzer test. Along with the charges, the driver has had his license suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

Toronto police confirmed the accused in the case is Det. Const. Jason Boag, a nine year member of the force who is currently assigned to the Organized Crime Enforcement unit.

Boag is currently suspended with pay and the matter has been referred to Professional Standards, a police spokesperson tells CityNews.
